About this Course

The overall aim of this workshop is to increase your awareness of Mental Health issues, and decrease the stigma related to those issues. The workshop should also improve your ability to assist and support someone experiencing a mental health problem in  workplace, home, and community settings.

This workshop seeks to increase the understanding of key concepts related to mental health. Throughout this training, we will discuss various mental health issues, giving examples of the impact, and methods for intervention and support.

We focus on depression and anxiety disorders in this course because they are amongst the most common mental illness types and have a large global impact. In addition, intervention for these two disorder types has been shown to have a large impact than other mental health issues. This may be due to the complexities associated with other mental health issues, whereas treatment and intervention for depression and anxiety can be relatively simple (i.e. medication, diet/exercise changes, therapy for specific trauma, etc.)

As an online training, you are able to complete this training at your own pace. It is designed to take 4 hours to complete. The course consists of a series of modules, with quizzes to cover your understanding of the course material. If you are unsuccessful at completing the test you can redo sections of the training. Once you have passed all the quizzes, you will be certified in Mental Health Awareness through Solution Focused Management®.

This course may be useful for individuals wishing to complete Diversity training for various accrediting bodies in the Human Services (CARF, CAC, etc.), Social Work (ACSW, CASW, etc.) Continuing Competency credits, and applicable for credits in several other professions.
